Les Routiers partners with the SRA!
Les Routiers UK & Ireland has taken another major step towards making sustainability mainstream in restaurants by signing a partnership deal with The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA).
Rye Castle Museum has two sites: the Ypres Tower (in the area known as the Gun Garden) and the East Street museum which holds exhibits. The East Street site displays uniforms, pottery, toys, Rye’s fire engine and changing displays on aspects of Rye’s history.
The Ypres Tower is believed to have been built in approximately 1249, though firm proof is still being sought. It is the oldest building—except for St Mary’s Church—open to the public in Rye. The balcony offers wonderful views of Romney Marsh and the surrounding countryside.
The basement has much to appeal to children of all ages – armour and helmets to try, a Captain Pugwash Treasure Hunt and a chance to test a medieval long bow.
An attractive garden, a reconstruction of a 15th century pleasure garden, lies hidden behind the Ypres Castle and features important herbs of both culinary and medical importance to the period. It is complemented by a Stillroom within the Tower.
You will find a great deal of information about the Museum and the history of Rye on the Museum website.

This year is, of course, Diamond Jubilee year when we will be celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's 60-year reign... and looking back at the history books, it is a huge achievement!
