Description

Although long established and hugely popular, this unique café remains something of a hidden gem, due to its subterranean location in a fascinating church crypt. A stone’s throw from Trafalgar Square and bustling theatreland, it makes a welcome escape from the crowds. Brick-vaulted ceilings and pillars make for a dramatic and airy setting in which to tuck into the good-value, wholesome food. Its relaxed atmosphere is ideal for an inexpensive meal pre- or post-theatre, or before catching a train from nearby Charing Cross station.

The extensive self-service counter offers an appealing array of salads, soup and daily changing meat and fish dishes listed on. Allow yourself extra time to explore the Gallery in the Crypt or to book for one of the regular classical concerts that take place upstairs in church.
