There can be no disputing Peter Curran’s words – a visit to Bedales is a truly pleasurable treat. Attentive staff who welcome and serve you with courtesy; fine wines, a selection that would impress connoisseurs and aficionados alike; tasty platters and delicious French loaves – sheer bliss. What started as a stall in vibrant Borough Market in 2001 is now an established Mecca for wine lovers to enjoy themselves in a cool and funky atmosphere. Arnaud Compas is the wine expert who has travelled the world and carefully selected an array of classic, contemporary and charismatic wines. Bedales offers excellent value on corkage. Here Arnaud explains the service “We are a proper wine shop that knows it stuff, where you can sit down and try wines by the glass and if you’ve tasted something that’s really tickled you pink, buy a bottle to take home with you to enjoy later. It’s a wine bar, too, with food to complement your glass. You can buy a bottle at retail price and then pay £8 corkage to drink it here.”
